Cancer is no longer considered taboo. It is heard frequently in conversations among families and friends as they discuss treatments and surgeries their loved one will endure. After the medical decisions are made, what happens next? A cancer diagnosis undoubtedly brings physical suffering but also creates emotions like fear, confusion, and anger that affect the whole family. What about treatment for the soul? Gilda’s Club Northern New Jersey, located in Hackensack, is dedicated to meeting the emotional and social needs of all those affected in any way by cancer, including their family and friends who also need support.
In order to introduce more people to their unique – and free – program, Gilda’s Club Northern New Jersey is conducting a one-hour informative program and tour of the clubhouse. These Red Door Tours provide an opportunity to explore the clubhouse, meet the Gilda’s Club family and learn about its mission and how to be a part of it.
“The Gilda’s Club program is so beneficial to families and individuals touched by cancer,” explains Mary G. Connolly, chief executive officer, “but everyone needs to know where we are and what we do. We have found that our Red Door Tours are the best way for us to communicate our mission that we provide cancer support for the whole family, the whole time.”
During the tour there will be a chance to speak with members and share in their stories of how Gilda’s Club has helped along the way. Volunteers will be on hand to explain the program and to show the many ways in which to get involved. Tours are one hour long and it is guaranteed that guests will leave not only on time but inspired by the spirit, love and support found at Gilda’s Club.
