Big Apple Cocktail Contest Kicks Off New Scottish Gin Launch in NYC

Caorunn Small Batch Scottish Gin today announced the “Big Apple Cocktail Contest” for all New York City bartenders. Caorunn (pronounced “ka-roon”) is made from a perfectly balanced mix of six traditional ingredients and the infusion of five Celtic botanicals, including Coul Blush Apple.

Since Carounn is being launched in New York City, the brand is challenging mixology masters to create a cocktail that is uniquely “New York” in flavor and character, brings the Coul Blush Apple botanical to life and complements the other four Celtic botanicals, which are Rowan Berry, Bog Myrtle, Dandelion and Heather. These authentic Celtic botanicals give Caorunn its fresh and full bodied taste.

The winning libation will be chosen from among five finalist submissions by Gin Master Simon Buley at a NYC launch event in April. The creator will win a trip to Tales of the Cocktail 2011 in New Orleans where the cocktail will be featured as Caorunn’s Big Apple Cocktail of the Year.

The contest beings March 17, 2011 and entries will be accepted via the website at www.caorunngin.com until April 11, 2011. Submissions should include a photo of the cocktail, recipe, the technique to build the drink and a description of the bartender’s inspiration. Please see website for official contest rules.

About Caorunn

Caorunn is produced by International Beverage Holdings, Limited and is handcrafted at Balmenach Distillery, making it the only gin produced at a working malt whisky distillery. It is made using pure grain spirit, natural ingredients, and highland water and revives traditional gin production methods using low distillation techniques and botanical infusion using a Copper Berry Chamber, which the distillery has 2 of the only 3 still in existence. Caorunn is the Gaelic word for ‘Rowan Berry’ – one of the infused Celtic botanicals. It is inspired by Celtic tradition and Art Nouveau, which literally means the “art of the new,” blending the past perfectly with the now. Each Celtic botanical is illustrated in an Art Nouveau/Celtic style in our botanical graphic. The ‘asterix-shaped’ logo reflects the image seen when a Rowan berry is cut open.
