Sky-High Media Coverage for the Quick-Chek Balloon &
Music Festival
Rosica was hired to inflate advanced ticket sales, heighten
awareness, and create “buzz” for the second largest
hot air balloon festival in the U.S. Our other objectives included
increasing sponsorships and sponsor satisfaction and creating unique
promotions and pre-festival media events to maintain newsworthiness
year after year. Our creative events included the reenactment of
the first hot air balloon flight, which included a duck, a goose
and a sheep (and a professional animal handler), sending mini hot
air balloon science kits to schools and having the kids launch their
class projects for media, and having Famous Amos parachute small
bags of cookies from a tethered balloon on media day. We also executed
a cost-effective poster contest that reached every teacher, parent,
and student in the state. As a result of our grassroots efforts
in schools and extensive media relations, the festival became the
top summer tourist attraction in the region, with over 175,000 attending
the weekend-long event.
