J & R Lamb Studios recognized for its artistic contributions to the state and country
New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez presented J & R Lamb Studios, Inc., the oldest continuously operating stained glass studio in the United States with a Proclamation on February 20, 2007, recognizing the company for its important contributions to art and history over the past 150 years, and for it’s work with the Library of Congress to archive and preserve its work for future generations.
Senator Menendez states in the Proclamation that, “on behalf of the People of the State of New Jersey, (I) recognize, commend and applaud J & R Lamb Studios, Inc. for 150 years of artisanship, and extend my best wishes for continued success.”
“Lamb Studios is honored to be recognized by Senator Menendez for our 150th anniversary,” says Donald Samick, owner of J&R Lamb Studios. “We are also proud to say that Lamb is located in Clifton and has been able to play a role in the art and history of some of New Jersey’s most historic churches, synagogues and public places.”
"J&R Lamb Studios, having continually operated for 150 years is a testament to the quality and care provided by J&R Lamb Studios for every piece of glass art created,” says New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine. “It is only through the concern and commitment of individuals such as yourselves that we may hope to build a new and brighter future for all residents of New Jersey.”
J& R Lamb Studios was founded in 1857 by Joseph and Richard Lamb and celebrates its 150th Anniversary this year. The ancient art form of stained glass dates back to the 10th or 11th century and at Lamb, they are still doing it the way it was done a thousand years ago; without succumbing to the Mechanical and Electronic Age.
J& R Lamb Studios have created original works of art that have been proudly displayed at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Newark Museum, and a number of houses of worship throughout the country. Their major works can be seen at Lakewood Memorial Chapel in Minneapolis, MN, Marine Corps Catholic and Protestant Chapels at Camp Lejeune, NC, Stanford Memorial Church at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, Sage Chapel at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, First Presbyterian Church Orange, TX and Tuskegee University Chapel at Tuskegee, AL.
J & R Lamb Studios is located on Van Houten Ave, in Clifton, NJ. They specialize in beautiful stained glass windows, interior decoration, murals, furniture, mosaics, and ecclesiastical appointments. For more information, visit the website www.lambstudios.com.
