AT&T Foundation Supports Technology Initiative in Boys & Girls Clubs

WHAT: Teens from the Boys & Girls Club of Newark armed with digital photo and video cameras document other Club teens as they clean up their neighborhood and mentor younger children

Through Club Tech, young people are learning essential digital skills, such as Web sites, electronic music, digital movies and photographic artwork, which will be entered into Boys & Girls Clubs Digital Arts Festival.

The Digital Arts Festival celebrates Club members’ creativity and technological ability and provides cash prizes for top entries. They create digital artwork in the following categories: Photo Illustration, Music Making, Movie Making, Web Design and Graphic Design.

Club Tech and the New Jersey Digital Arts Festival are funded through a $65,000 grant from the AT&T Foundation. AT&T understands that without effective computer and Internet training, children will miss out on educational and career advancement and on the chance to participate fully in our society.

As part of its ongoing support of economic and youth development programs, AT&T is funding Club Tech at the Boys & Girls Club to help youth from diverse backgrounds prepare for successful employment and productive careers. The grant to Boys & Girls Clubs in New Jersey will also support Club Tech programs in Camden, Paterson, Trenton, West Orange and Pequannock.
